Firm's History
Olson, Grabill & Flitcraft traces its origins to 1978, when Norman L. Olson Jr. established a private practice in Chicago under the name Olson & Hoffman, following his departure from a large law firm. That same year, Edward M. Grabill, Jr. opened his own practice in Cincinnati, focusing on corporate law and commercial real estate. Although the two practices began independently, they shared a commitment to thoughtful legal counsel and practical client service, a foundation that would ultimately bring the partners together following Ed's return to the Chicago area.
As the firm evolved, its name changed to reflect the depth and composition of its partnership. In 1996, it became Olson, Grabill and Hoffman, marking a period of structural and professional growth. The addition of Michael R. Grabill in 2000 further broadened the firm’s capabilities, particularly in real estate law, strengthening its ability to serve clients with complex transactional needs. In 2001, Gregg A. Flitcraft joined the practice, and the firm formally adopted its current name, Olson, Grabill & Flitcraft. This period of transition represented a pivotal chapter in the firm’s development, reinforcing a long-standing commitment to high-caliber legal representation delivered with efficiency, discretion, and value for clients throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
In the decades that followed, the firm matured into a multi-generational general practice. For more than 25 years, it has operated from its office in Northbrook, Illinois, serving clients across the North Shore and the greater Chicagoland area. Today, the firm continues a mission that has remained consistent for nearly half a century: serving as honest, diligent counsel across a broad range of legal disciplines, while increasingly focusing its practice on estate planning and real estate law, advising clients on acquisitions, development, financing, and long-term asset management.
